Transfers and pre season news

De Gea set to return to training
Football

Goalkeeper David de Gea is expected to return for pre-season training
with Manchester United this morning.
The 24-year-old's future has been the subject of intense speculation this
summer.
Real Madrid are known to be keen on the Spaniard but are yet to make a
formal bid for the player.

Former Manchester United and England defender Phil Neville has begun his role as Valencia assistant manager.
The La Liga club, who are in this season's Champions League qualifying,
announced the appointment of the 38-year-old a week ago, but he told BBC Sport the deal was not yet finalised.
However he has now started his job replacing another Briton, Ian Cathro, who has joined Steve McClaren's backroom staff at Newcastle.

The Independent reports that Liverpool striker Raheem Sterling will report for pre-season training with the club on Monday - why wouldn't he? - but the England forward's participation in the club's pre-season tour of Bangkok is in serious doubt.
The Telegraph reports that the 20-year-old could be in line for a £4m cut of his agent's fee if Manchester City meet Liverpool's £50m asking price.

The big transfer news on the back of the Daily Mirror is that Southampton may take legal action to block Tottenham's bid to sign defender Toby Alderweireld.

Monday's football gossip
In Monday's football gossip , the Daily Express reports that Liverpool will
continue their summer spending spree by matching the £32.5m buy-out
clause in Christian Benteke's contract to bring Aston Villa's 24-year-old
Belgium forward to Anfield.
