Schlupp extends Leicester stay

Leicester City's Jeffrey Schlupp has agreed a new contract with the club,
which will keep him at the King Power Stadium until 2019.
The Ghana international's previous deal was due to expire in 2017, but he
has been handed fresh terms following an impressive debut season in the
top flight under Nigel Pearson.
Despite coming through the club's academy as a striker, Schlupp was asked
to feature on the wing and at left-back as Leicester beat the drop by six
points.
Schlupp, who missed out on featuring at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations
due to a knee injury, scored four goals in 35 appearances last term.
His contract renewal will serve as a further boost for Pearson, who has
been able to bolster his squad with the acquisitions of defender Robert
Huth, full-back Christian Fuchs and striker Shinji Okazaki.
Poland international Marcin Wasilewski also agreed an initial one-year
extension in June.

Schweinsteiger hinted his long term future remains at Bayern

Bastian Schweinsteiger has hinted that his long-term future remains at
Bayern Munich as he continues to be linked with a move to Manchester
United.
The Germany midfielder and World Cup winner is one of the most
successful players in Bayern's history, winning eight Bundesliga titles,
seven DFB-Pokal medals and the UEFA Champions League in 2013.
Schweinsteiger made just 15 league starts last season, though, and was
reported to be interested in a move to Old Trafford, where he would be
reunited with former Bayern boss Louis van Gaal.
However, the 30-year-old appears to have poured cold water on the idea
he could leave the Allianz Arena - stating there is still plenty for him to
achieve at Bayern.
"I really would like to win the Champions League again, but also play as
successful as the last couple of years," he told Sport 1 during the shooting
of an advert for Funny Frisch.
"We have won the league title three times in a row. I think no team ever
made it four times. That is a motivation.
"If you have won big titles like the Champions League or the World Cup a
lot of people think 'now he has enough', but I see it completely different.
"I feel fine and I am ready to play on the top-level for three more years.
That is my goal."
Schweinsteiger is also targeting more success with Germany at next year's
European Championship in France.
"We have the European Championship in 2016," he added. "That is a big
goal, not only for me but for the whole football nation of Germany. That's
what you work for."

Youngsters to get chance at US tour - Van Gaal

Louis van Gaal will give Manchester United's youngsters a chance to stake
their claim for a first-team spot on the club's upcoming tour of the United
States.
United will return to America next month to play in the International
Champions Cup, a tournament that they won in 2014.
Mexican side America and San Jose Earthquakes of MLS will provide the
opposition for United, as will UEFA Champions League winners Barcelona
and French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
The calibre of opposition may be high but Van Gaal, who steered United
back into the Champions League in his first season in charge, is planning to
utilise the depth in his squad.
"You always get chances, especially in pre-season, and if you grab that
chance then maybe you get the possibility to join our first-team squad next
season," Van Gaal told United's official website.
"I shall take a lot of youngsters with us to the USA and they have the
chance to show themselves and then we shall wait and observe how they
can develop."

The boxer earned $300million and as to how he celebrated it? ‘Money’ took himself to the Mob Museum in Vegas and stood in front of a display of
how much he earns. He shared a photo on instagram and wrote “Forbes, I’m just getting started this year.”

Marseille has no project -

Didier Drogba has ruled out a return to Marseille because he does not
expect the Ligue 1 side to be competing for trophies next season.
The Ivory Coast striker was released by Chelsea at the end of his contract
after helping them claim a fourth Premier League title and win the League
Cup.
Reports had suggested the 37-year-old could return to the Stade
Velodrome to finish his career, but Drogba said he will not be joining
Marcelo Bielsa's side.
"It's not a question of money. I like to have a project. And Marseille,
which I know well, does not have a project," Drogba is quoted as telling
Ivorian media by ESPN.
"They have sold their best players, whom they let go till the end of their
contracts. I'm talking about Andre Ayew, Andre-Pierre Gignac ... and
they'll lose more.
"I don't want to go to Marseille to just play. If I go somewhere, it's to win,
and I want to win. The question has been coming up for 10 years.
"There have been times when I could have returned, but the timing wasn't
right. And each time my name comes up when it's time to renew season
tickets. I don't want people to use me for financial purposes."
Drogba left Marseille for his first spell at Chelsea in July 2004.

I regret playing for Inter - Podolski

Lukas Podolski is looking forward to forcing his way back into Arsenal's
first team next season after a disappointing loan spell in Italy with Inter.
The World Cup winner only scored one goal during his six-month loan
stint at San Siro – the winner in a 2-1 victory over Udinese in April.
It was a rare high point in a miserable move to Serie A, something
Podolski is keen to put behind him as he tries to rebuild his career in the
Premier League.
And he remains confident he still has plenty to offer to Arsene Wenger's
side, a point he hopes to underlined in pre-season.
"English football is the one which best suits my style, but I know how
suddenly everything can change," he told Bild.
"I have characteristics to help different teams, but it was a mistake to go to
Inter with no redemption clauses.
"In football there are times when everything doesn't work out for the best.
You're not always playing as a starter and you just have to accept the
decisions and work on your own game.
"That's what I did, but now I'm looking forward. I've always felt
comfortable [at Arsenal].
"With the fans, with the team and also with the manager. I'm going back to
play, I have to say my qualities suit Arsenal."

Messi pay-off rumours denied by Irish FA

The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) has issued a strong rebuttal to
claims in an Argentinian newspaper that Republic of Ireland players were
paid $10,000 each to not injure Lionel Messi during a 2010 friendly
against Argentina.
A story in La Nacion claimed that former head of the Argentina Football
Association Julio Grondona - who died in July 2014 - suggested making
payments to the Irish players as they could not afford to stump up the
Barcelona superstar's insurance should he have picked up an injury.
It is also alleged that Argentina suggested playing the match to FIFA as a
way of alleviating Ireland's grievances over losing a World Cup play-off
to France, in which Thierry Henry famously handballed in the build-up to
William Gallas' winner.
Messi played 58 minutes of the contest in August 2010 that marked
Ireland's first international game at the Aviva Stadium, with Angel di
Maria scoring the only goal in Dublin.
The FAI deny the accusations and are considering the possibility of legal
action.
"The Football Association of Ireland completely refutes the allegations
made about the Republic of Ireland v Argentina friendly match in La
Nacion as baseless," read an FAI statement.
"The match in question was organised by Kentaro and announced by press
release prior to the World Cup play-offs in 2009.
"We are consulting our legal advisers in relation to the article, and will be
taking further steps."
Earlier this month it was revealed that the FAI was paid a €5m interest-
free loan by FIFA as compensation after they missed out on the 2010
World Cup, with the payment used to help cover the cost of the
redevelopment of the Aviva Stadium.

Unhappy Di Maria wants United stay

Manchester United winger Angel di Maria has no plans to leave Old
Trafford, despite admitting to his unhappiness over his bench role towards
the back end of the 2014-15 Premier League season.
Di Maria's future is far from certain, with Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern
Munich and now Barcelona reportedly interested after the Argentina
international's disappointing campaign.
After making a bright start to life in England, Di Maria was consigned to
the bench from March up until the final match of the season following his
red card in an FA Cup clash against Arsenal.
However, the 27-year-old - on international duty with Argentina at the
Copa America in Chile - wants to prove his worth in Manchester, even if
he remains unsure as to why he was dropped by Louis van Gaal.
"No, because I'm not thinking like that," Di Maria replied when asked by
Argentine newspaper Ole if he will leave United.
"In Madrid there were times when I was whistled around the stadium but
faced it and then it turned around. I like to deal with things."
Di Maria, whose family were unsettled by an attempted burglary in
January, added: "Yes [it has been frustrating]. For me, and my family.
Because not everything goes as I want, because I don't play.
"Because I came with an intention and end up on the bench. It's hard to tell
how I feel there. I started well, with goals and assists. I was having a good
time, until I was out. It's a little hard to explain why I do not play."
Di Maria registered 10 assists and scored three goals in 27 Premier League
appearances last term as United finished fourth and qualified for the UEFA
Champions League play-offs.

Tévez to return to Boca Juniors

Carlos Tevez is set for a return to boyhood club Boca Juniors, after
general secretary Cesar Martucci claimed to have secured the Argentine's
services.
Juventus striker Tevez, on international duty with Argentina at the Copa
America, has plied his trade in Europe since 2006, enjoying stints with
West Ham, Manchester United and Manchester City before heading to Italy.
The 70-cap international started out in Boca's senior side in 2001, having
spent many years there in the youth team - and Martucci said the 31-
year-old would be coming home to Buenos Aires.
"We are very happy," Martucci told Argentine radio station AM 1050.
"After much work we can secure the return of Carlos Tevez.
"We hope that with Carlos' return, we can achieve the results that Boca fans
are expecting.
"Unlike many players who returned to the club, he comes at full capacity."

De La Hoya poised for Mayweather revenge

A rematch between Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr is not
beyond the realms of possibility, with the former claiming he is a "50-50"
chance of returning to the ring.
De La Hoya has been retired since 2009 but a proposed comeback was
flagged by unbeaten welterweight champion Mayweather last week.
Mayweather, who defeated Manny Pacquiao in a unanimous points
decision in May, claimed a split-decision victory over De La Hoya in
2007.
But 42-year-old De La Hoya - a former 10-time world champion
boasting a 39-6 win-loss record - may have the chance to exact revenge
after telling ESPN.com on Monday: "It's got to be worth my while but this
is very serious.
"I have to make sure I am fighting the very best. I don't have to come back
for financial reasons or the lights or the glamour. The only reason I would
come back is because I miss the competition of fighting the very best.
"I'm not preparing for an actual fight, but I run eight miles, I can hit the bag
for 12 rounds, I can jump rope and do the speed bag. I do all that on a
regular basis to stay in shape.
"I look great too. I've never seen myself look like this. Sometimes that little
itch gets me in that certain spot, and when so many people tell me I can do
it, it's trying to convince me that you can."
De La Hoya, who has battled alcohol addiction, added: "Right now I feel
the best I have felt in my life physically, emotionally, mentally because I
haven't touched alcohol for I don't know how long. I'm training. I feel
great. But it has to be worth my while.
"I've gotten everything taken care of, my rotator cuffs, my left hand,
everything. I'm pain free. I just feel good and when I walk the streets,
everyone tells me, 'You have to fight Floyd again'.
"Would I do it? I don't know but I wake up every morning thinking that I
can. I think about Sugar Ray Leonard and Marvin Hagler.
"If [Leonard] could do it, why can't I? We both come from similar
situations. We are both hungry for the competition, we're both ambitious.
So you never know. At the same time, I wish time flies by so I don't have
to come back."
